Not one federal agency that should be talking about the impact of alcohol on college-age youth has bothered to update their data in years, These same agency websites list "current alcohol-related activity" on college campuses by listing events that took place in 2007.
However heroin is another story. If you want to talk or hear about heroin, there will be a conference or summit coming to your campus or community soon. If you can't wait, these same websites offer all kinds of current information on this incredibly small problem compared to alcohol.
We are so foolish....
Look at any film footage that makes the news under the theme "College Students Gone Wild," and I'll guarantee you it's not the result of hundreds of college kids shooting up heroin before they decide to turn over cars and shake their fists in defiance. People in decision making positions are way too willing to sacrifice concrete evidence over business and political interests. Student safety along with the real drug issues of the day are buried under collateral damage while government health agencies consider the next big, politically correct drug issue.
