Frequently Asked Questions:
  1. Who is FACE?
FACE is a 501 (c) 3 national non-profit organization located in Clare, Michigan.

  2. What is the mission of FACE?
To raise public awareness on the impact of alcohol and other drug issues and provide realistic solutions that promote positive change.

  3. What does FACE do?
FACE conducts work in three areas:
    • Resource Development: We produce cutting edge, research–based resources on alcohol and other drug issues.
    • Speaking and Training: We provide speaking and training that will raise awareness and identify actions to reduce alcohol and other drug problems.
    • Social Marketing Campaigns: FACE provides assistance in planning to groups implementing social marketing campaigns locally, regionally and statewide.

  4. How is FACE funded?
FACE is primarily funded through the sale of our prevention resources. We also receive funding from private foundations, corporations and individual donors; as well as revenues from training, speaking and the development media campaigns. FACE does not accept funding from the alcohol beverage industry.

  5. Is FACE Prohibitionist?
No. FACE supports the legal, safe, low-risk use of alcohol. We do not support prohibition as a solution to alcohol problems.

  6. If FACE sells products and services, doesn’t that make it a for-profit corporation?
No. Donations and revenue generated from sales, speaking and training is re-invested into the development of new resources on alcohol and other drug issues.

  7. If FACE receives funding from foundations, why charge for products and services?
Obtaining non-governmental funding allows FACE to stay free from censorship in the development of new resources. Generating revenue allows us to fill unmet resource needs for the prevention field.

  8. What does FACE stand for?
When FACE was founded in 1988, it stood for “Facing Alcohol Concerns through Education”. Today the organization is starting to expand to other issues in addition to alcohol. Because FACE is recognized, we kept our name but changed our tagline to “The Prevention Resource Group” to reflect our expansion.

  9. Where is FACE located?
FACE is located in Clare, Michigan, a rural community with approximately 3,500 residents located in the central part of the Lower Peninsula.

  10. What does FACE want to accomplish?
Our vision for the future is simple – to promote healthy and robust communities where everyone can experience life to its full potential – Where families can attend sporting events without the risk of hearing obscene language and wading through spilled beer - Where college kids can be fully engaged in one of the most exciting times of their lives without guilt, injury or death – Where businesses reap the rewards of a healthier and more productive workforce – And where the cultural pastime is not drinking, but simply enjoying the company of family and friends.
