About Us

In 1988, FACE was founded as an educational non-profit organization located in Clare, Michigan. FACE was built on the belief that there was a vital need for truthful, dynamic, public information resources on alcohol issues. To ensure that commitment, we have never solicited funding from the alcohol beverage industry or the federal government, and we do not advocate prohibition as a solution to alcohol problems.

In 1989, FACE produced and released its first four poster concepts targeted to college-age youth. This fledgling but determined beginning was made possible by two years of seed funding provided by The Dow Chemical Company. During the first five years, we produced resources on alcohol that were used by prevention organizations in Michigan and other states in the Midwest. It was during this timeframe that we became primarily self-supporting through the sale of resources that would fill a much needed void.

By 2008, we had become a highly respected and widely recognized national non-profit organization that offered hundreds of resources on alcohol issues ranging from films and publications to public service announcements and community case studies. We established a participant network of close to 5,000 groups and organizations nationwide.

Today FACE – The Prevention Resource Group has expanded its resources to include other substance abuse issues. We remain committed to researching and developing new resources to raise awareness on these very important health issues.
